Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle Announces Whitney Peak as New Face

Keira knightly has long been one of the more recognizeable faces in fragrance marketing. But it seems her days with Coco Mademoiselle have come to an end. Yesterday, the French fashion house introduced Whitney Peak as the new face of their product lines. Don’t worry, there’s seemingly no bad blood with Knightly, only contracts ending and beginning.

Peak is best known for her role in the HBO Max revival of Gossip Girl. But you can also find her in Hocus Pocus 2 and the Apple TV+ series, Home Before Dark. The former competitive swimmer is a perfect representative for Coco Mademoiselle as they remain focused on diversity and youth. At 20 years old and the daughter of a Canadian pilot and Ugandan hair stylist, Peak’s multicultural status and successful acting career are a huge win for the fashion house.

Peak is the first black face of Chanel making the move undeniably historic.

“Peak’s joy, spirit, and energy are contagious,” the brand said in a statement. “She is the embodiment of today’s youth whose curiosity, confidence in life, appetite for experiences and lack of preconceptions echo the temperament of the young Coco Chanel.”

Peak’s successful acting career is in its inception years and we expect amazing things from her over the next handful of decades.

Moreover, Peak brings a sense of feminism to Coco Mademoiselle, an attribute that the company has prided itself in since Coco Chanel founded the company in the early 1920s.

“When I’m complete, I can fully give myself,” Peak says. “I can be fully vulnerable; I can be open and accepting. If you’re going to leave the house and give yourself to everybody, I think you should always feel very complete. My fragrance is the perfect “complete”.

Peak’s new campaigns are expected to hit the market in early spring of this year. That said, this morning Chanel launched an online commercial featuring their new star. It’s racy and fresh (only about 20 views at the time of us posting it).

Clearly, Coco Mademoiselle is wasting little time in putting their new celebrity brand face in the public eye. To be clear, Peak was formerly the company’s brand ambassador. However, we assume Chanel added a few more 0s to her contract given the new status.
