JayZ Trashes Perfume Company Suing Him In Court

JayZ, one of the most influential, chart-topping rappers/artists of all time, grew combative as he testified during a court appearance last week. His testimony, which is in defense of a perfume lawsuit brought by Parlux, got pretty “empire state of mind” within seconds. (Sorry, I had to).

The perfume brand Parlux filed a lawsuit against JayZ, claiming the rapper didn’t live up to mutual expectations in a celebrity perfume deal. According to Parlux, JayZ never made obligated appearances for Gold Jay-Z (that’s the perfume’s name).

I’ve always had problems with the quality of lazy work that was coming from Parlux,” JayZ stated during questioning by his own lawyer; he went on to classify their work as, “crappy, lazy work.”

There was also an email read, reportedly written by JayZ, calling Gold Jay-Z, “a B-rate commercial and my name is on it.”

During his testimony, JayZ said of his “B-Rating” comment that he was “was being kind.”

“It was a tough relationship but I was still trying to make something great,” he said.

Parlux claims that JayZ didn’t show up for six contractual appearances after JayZ Gold’s 2013 launch. After hearing JayZ’s sentiments over both their company and the perfume, not sure they’d want him representing them at a Macy’s now.

JayZ slapped Parlux with a $2.7 million lawsuit accusing the perfume company of failing to pay him the monies owed.

Perfumer Ilias Ermenidis crafted JayZ Gold using cardamom, blueberry, ginger, grapefruit. The base notes leverage amber, teak wood, vanilla, and myrhh.

You’ll catch a lot of lavender at first spritz. Overall, the projection of JayZ Gold is relatively weak. However, JayZ Gold smells pretty good and is affordable.

JayZ Gold is the rapper’s first attempt at a celebrity perfume. Things did not go well. But that’s obvious to everyone. Relative to celebrity perfumes, JayZ Gold isn’t too bad.

Not that you’d want them now, but JayZ Gold also comes as a shower gel, deodorant, and aftershave. No items in his product line are popular by any standard.
