Francis Kurkdjian is officially a co-founder of Maison Francis Kurkdjian alongside Marc Chaya. Cosmétique Magazine anointed Kurkdjian as the nose of the year in 2008. Kurkdjian offers over 200 popular fragrances, including the highly popular Rouge 540.
Today, Kurkdjian leads Dior as their perfume creation director. Kurkdjian specifically targets woody, aromatic notes in Amyris Femme. This effeminate scent evokes a youthful, liberating vibe at the opening.
What Does Amyris Femme Smell Like?
Kurkdjian uses lemon blossom and orange in the top notes. In the middle, we find our Amyris and some iris. At the base, Kurkdjian deploys vetiver, amber, and musk.
Amyris Femme is an extraordinary feminine experience. The woody and aromatic blend delivers a citrus and floral aroma. The floral can come off as powdery. There’s a fresh vibe to Amyris Femme, maybe better described as a walk through a sunny field of flowers.
The citrus hangs behind the woody notes, but just enough to impress with a subtle effect. As we know, citrus notes can overwhelm if not contained, and Kurkdjian does an excellent job balancing them with woody notes.
