Anne Flipo: A Master Perfume Behind Dozens of Famous Fragrances

Anne Flipo is honored. Her powerful, influential status in the perfume world remains undeniable. Her nose is behind over 160 scents, including La Nuit de l’Homme by Yves Saint Laurent. Other works, including Jimmy Choo Illicit and Burberry Brit Rhythm, highlight a perfumer’s unrivaled career.

Her influence on the fragrance industry runs deep.

Born in Picardy, France, Flipo studied at the famous ISIPCA perfume school in France. In February of 2019, she was anointed Master Perfumer by IFF.

Flipo’s love for scents goes back to her childhood love of gardening in France. Michel Almairac mentored Flipo; Almairac has over 170 famous perfumes under his nose, including Christian Dior Fahrenheit EDT

Flipo is the master nose of International Flavor & Fragrance. If you’re a fan of multiple fragrances, most likely, you’ve worn Flipo’s works.

Flipo first took an interest in flavors but later changed to scents as she became enthralled with a bustling perfume industry. As a child, she appreciated the unique aromas of flowers in her gardens.

Flipo’s awards include Cosmetique Magazine Perfumer of the Year in 2014 and Fragrance Foundation Awards for Jo Malone London Honeysuckle & Davana Cologne 2018.

Flipo’s favorite note is orange blossom, which she consistently deploys across multiple fragrances. She’s a perfectionist who famously says that YSL Libre took over 1700 tries before it became what it is today.
