Layton Parfums de Marly Review: Warm, Spicy, But Good?
Layton Parfums de Marly is a unisex perfume popular among both sexes. Its reputation for warm and spicy places it in a fall fragrance category, but after reading our Marly perfume review, I doubt you’ll place it in any seasonal box.
Read our Marly perfume review and decide if this fragrance may be right for you or whether you’d prefer trying out a sample.
Layton Parfums de Marly Review: Let’s Get Started
Layton is an amber floral fragrance created for both men and women. Hamid Merati-Kashani created Layton perfume in 2016. Hamid is known for famously saying that “customers teach me the roadmap of fragrances.” The Dubai resident believes in adapting his scents to customer feedback, whether through sales reports or reviews. Hamid leverages his middle-eastern roots in his fragrance work, hence, Marly’s spicy aspect.
Marly perfume is a top-selling fragrance. But often, people are a bit divided over whether or not they enjoy the wide variety of fragrance notes used in the formula.
Let’s look closer at Marly’s unique scent.
Layton Perfume Samples
Indeed, friends, we carry Layton perfume samples. Samples are always good to test a fragrance under actual, daily life conditions. You don’t have “bottle regret” a few days later by using samples.
What Does Layton Perfume Smell Like?
Layton’s amber floral makeup uses apple, lavender, bergamot, and mandarin orange as the top notes. In the middle, we find jasmine, violet, and geranium. Lastly, we discover cardamom, sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, and guaiac wood in the base notes.
You’ll catch heavy vanilla and spices in the opening. There’s a definitive sweetness that hits your nostrils right away. That’s going to feel like apple to most people. The amber floral aspect of Layton is fun, but then something bizarre happens – the guaiac wood comes out to play.
The problem with guaiac wood is that it can almost smell rotted. I mean, scent is a subjective experience, and some scents take time to adjust to a person’s taste. All of that is fair. But guaiac wood is a bit of a divisive, risque play for any perfume. Here’s where things get really odd – a lot of Layton buyers feel the guaiac wood creates a Vick’s Vapo Run scent.
The guaiac wood takes over a pretty good opening floral fragrance. In some ways, it straight up hijacks it.
But again, there are people who enjoy such the guaiac wood play. But you need to know what you’re getting into. This is why we always suggest trying a Layton sample before going all-in on a bottle.
Don’t consider this Layton review as “bad,” per se. Instead, this is just fair warning that Layton perfume is a super unique experience. You aren’t likely to feel any similar vibes between Layton and other perfumes you’ve worn. That’s a good thing in a sense as you aren’t getting a run-of-the-mill, thoughtless fragrance.
Perfumes are a deeply personal experience. Trying new fragrances is fun and enlightening. Layton should be on everyone’s list to at least try.
